English typing for UAE hiring
English is the day-to-day working language across most UAE offices, and administrative, data-entry and customer-service postings in Dubai and Abu Dhabi frequently include a typing-speed screen. This test reports net WPM — (correct characters ÷ 5) ÷ minutes, with uncorrected errors subtracted — which is the measure those assessments use.
Bilingual workplaces
Many UAE roles involve both Arabic and English. This page tests English typing only: the passages are English prose and the score reflects your English keyboard speed. If a role requires Arabic typing as well, that is a separate skill and this score does not stand in for it.
Typing speed for UAE roles
| Role | Typical requirement |
|---|---|
| Administrative assistant / receptionist | 35–45 WPM |
| Data entry | 45–60 WPM, high accuracy |
| Call centre / customer service | 35–45 WPM |
| Document controller / secretary | 45+ WPM |
Requirements are set by each employer rather than by a national standard — check the job advert. For role-by-role detail, see the typing test for jobs hub.
