About Ai-TypingTest.com
A free, no-sign-up typing speed test that measures what a real typing exam measures — and helps you improve the specific keys holding you back.
What this site is
Ai-TypingTest.com is a free web app for measuring and improving typing speed. You can take a timed test from 15 seconds to 10 minutes, see live WPM, accuracy and consistency, and get a breakdown of the exact words and keys that slowed you down. An optional free account adds result history, a performance dashboard, streaks, a global leaderboard, and AI-personalized lessons generated around your weakest keys and letter pairs.
Who builds this
Ai-TypingTest.com is an independent project started in 2025 and built and maintained by Abhishek, its founder. It is not backed by a publisher or an agency — one maintainer writes the code, the test passages, the exam pages and the guides.
Written pages carry an editorial review step rather than a byline for its own sake. Before a guide or exam page is published, and again whenever it is updated, it is checked against the scoring methodology described below and — for exam pages — against the current official notification for that exam. Each page then shows the date it was last reviewed, so you can see how fresh it is instead of guessing. Guides are credited to Abhishek with that review recorded in the byline.
How we built this
- Scoring follows the standard net-WPM method used by professional and government typing tests — five characters to a word, uncorrected errors subtracted — rather than a house formula that would flatter your score. The exact calculation is in the next section.
- Exam requirements (SSC, RRB NTPC, LDC, court, DEO/KDPH, UPSSSC, RSMSSB, MP CPCT and others) are taken from the official notifications for those exams and each page is dated so you can tell when it was last checked. Where a requirement is given in KDPH rather than WPM, we present it in the exam’s own unit.
- AI lessons are not generic filler text. The app records which keys and letter pairs you actually miss, and generates practice passages weighted toward those specific weaknesses, so drilling time goes where your error rate is.
- The test itself runs client-side in your browser, which is what keeps timing accurate and lets the whole thing work without an account.
How we calculate your score
We use the same methodology as professional and government typing tests, so a score here reflects what you would get on a real exam:
- Net WPM = (correctly typed characters ÷ 5) ÷ minutes elapsed, with uncorrected errors subtracted. One “word” is a fixed five characters, including spaces and punctuation.
- Accuracy = correct keystrokes ÷ total keystrokes × 100.
- Consistency is derived from how much your speed varied through the test — a steady pace scores higher than the same average speed typed in bursts.
For the full detail see What Is WPM? and Gross WPM vs Net WPM.
Who it’s for
- Beginners and kids building accuracy and finger placement.
- Students and job seekers preparing for office, data-entry, BPO/call-centre and transcription typing requirements.
- Candidates for government typing exams — SSC CHSL/CGL, RRB NTPC, LDC, court, DEO (KDPH), and state boards such as UPSSSC, RSMSSB and MP CPCT.
- Multilingual typists: English, Hindi (Unicode / Mangal), Hinglish and Punjabi, including notes on Kruti Dev.
Accuracy of exam information
Typing-speed requirements for government and job exams change by notification and year. We keep the exam pages current and mark them with a review date, but the official notification for your exam is always the authority. If you spot something out of date, please tell us — corrections are prioritised.
Privacy
The test runs entirely in your browser. Nothing about a test is stored unless you are signed in, in which case your results are saved to your account so you can track progress over time. We do not sell personal data.
