Singapore Typing Test

English typing practice for Singapore students and for admin, data-entry and shared-services job applications.

British-convention English

Singapore follows British spelling convention in education, government and business writing — colour, organise, centre, realise, programme — so that is the passage set this page runs, rather than the American one used on the USA page. It is a small difference per passage, but net WPM subtracts every uncorrected error, and typing against the wrong convention produces a steady trickle of them.

For Singapore students

Primary and secondary students in Singapore type for assignments, research and increasingly for on-screen work. Typing speed is not part of PSLE or any national examination, but students who type without hunting for keys finish written work faster and with fewer typos. Each run here takes under a minute and needs no account.

For admin and shared-services hiring

Singapore hosts a large base of regional shared-services, business process outsourcing and customer-support operations. Administrative and support roles in those teams often include a typing screen. This test uses the same net-WPM measure employers use: (correct characters ÷ 5) ÷ minutes, with uncorrected errors subtracted.

Typing speed for Singapore roles

RoleTypical requirement
General admin / executive assistant35–45 WPM
Data entry45–60 WPM, high accuracy
Customer support / chat support40–50 WPM
Shared services / BPO processing40+ WPM

Requirements vary by employer — check the specific posting. For the support and outsourcing side, see the BPO typing test.
