Typing Speed Percentile Calculator

How the percentile is calculated
Percentile = tests with a lower WPM ÷ all recorded tests × 100. Every completed test by a signed-in user is one record; guests are not counted. The figure updates as people test, so it moves slightly day to day. Because people who practise typing are faster than average, being at the 50th percentile here means you are faster than a typical office worker. Details on the methodology page and in the typing statistics report.

Frequently asked questions
Well above average. In the Aalto University study of 168,000 volunteers the mean was about 52 WPM, so 70 WPM puts you clearly in the faster group; use the tool above for the live figure from this site.
Around the middle for the general population, but below average among people who take online typing tests, who skew faster.
